In this release, you can now find and read Dive SOPs from the AI your company uses, such as Claude and ChatGPT (beta). We also made long subtitles easier to read, and subtitles that fall within a shape’s Still Duration are now read aloud at a natural speed. Expiration notifications for AR alignment data are now sent as a weekly summary.
① Find and read SOPs from AI chats such as Claude and ChatGPT (MCP)
You can now connect Dive to the AI your company uses (Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Google Gemini Enterprise). When you ask the AI something like “Tell me the steps for XX,” the AI searches the published SOPs in Dive, answers you, and includes a link that opens those steps in Dive. Click the link, and the SOP with video opens at that step.
Until now, to find a Dive SOP, you had to open Dive and search for it. With this release, you can simply ask the AI you already use, and it will take you to the Dive SOP.
●What the AI can do
- The AI can only find and read SOPs in Dive. It cannot create, edit, or delete SOPs.
- The AI can only read published SOPs that the person who connected it is allowed to view in Dive.
- Videos and images are not passed to the AI. To view them, use the link in the AI’s answer to open them in Dive.
●Getting started
By default, it is set to “Not in use.” A team owner needs to turn it on in the AI connections (MCP) card, which is on the Integration tab under Owner Functions in the side menu. Once saved, the card shows the Connection URL. Members connect by adding this URL to their AI settings and then allowing access with their Dive account. You do not need to install anything on your computer.
For Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini Enterprise, your company’s IT staff first register Dive on the AI side, and then the AI can be used. The values needed for registration are issued under “AIs registered by your company” on the same card.
●Connected AIs and usage
- You can check the AIs you have connected on the “External service integration” screen, which opens from the user menu at the top right of the screen. You can also disconnect them from there.
- On the “AI connections (MCP)” card, owners can check who has connected which AI, and how many times each AI has searched for and read SOPs (Searches and Reads), broken down by AI, by user, and by SOP.
●Conditions of use
- Available on the Lite, Core, Pro, and Enterprise plans.
- On the Enterprise plan, you can choose which AIs are allowed to connect (all are selected by default). On other plans, you can connect from any AI in the list.
- For teams that use IP address restriction, on the Enterprise plan, if the owner allows it, you can use the AIs registered by your company (Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini Enterprise) and Claude. Guest accounts cannot connect.
- This feature is provided as a beta version.
※ Before you use this feature, be sure to read “Terms of Use and Disclaimer” at the bottom of the How-to article. By using this feature, you are deemed to have agreed to its contents.
For how to connect, see Find and read SOPs from AI chats such as Claude and ChatGPT (MCP).
② Long subtitles are now wider and shown two lines at a time
Until now, when the subtitle position was “Down” or “Up,” subtitles wrapped at about half the width of the video. Subtitles for spoken words tended to get long because sentences kept running on across commas, which increased the number of lines and sometimes covered much of the video.
With this release, long subtitles are now displayed wider, almost to the full width of the video. Short subtitles look the same as before. Subtitles that still do not fit in two lines are split into groups of two lines and switched in order as the video plays.
●About the two-line display
- Subtitles are split only when they are shown on screen. The subtitle sentence itself is not split, and narration and translation are still done as one sentence, as before.
- The split position (Where to split) is chosen at easy-to-read break points, such as the end of a sentence, punctuation marks, or spaces. It is never split in the middle of a word.
- Which part is shown depends on the playback position. Even if you seek, change the playback speed, or switch steps, the part that matches that position is shown.
- When the original text is shown side by side with “Show original text alongside,” the original sentence that matches the translation on screen is shown alongside it.
- MP4 export uses the same display.
Subtitles shown over the video in the video editor are also widened in the same way (they are not split into two-line groups). When the subtitle position is “Left” or “Right,” the display does not change.
③ Subtitles that fall within a shape’s Still Duration are now read aloud at a natural speed
When you insert a shape into a video, the video pauses at that point, and a “Still Duration” is added so the shape can be shown. Until now, the narration for subtitles that overlap a Still Duration was created by compressing it into a shorter time that excluded the still part, then played slowly only during the still part to get back in sync. As a result, for subtitles that were compressed heavily, the narration could sound rushed or muddy and was sometimes hard to follow.
With this release, the narration is created using the Still Duration as well, as time available for reading aloud, and is played at its normal speed. Even in steps with a Still Duration, subtitles are read aloud at a natural speed with clear sound. The preview in the video editor and “Check narration speed,” which finds fast subtitles, now follow the same approach.
For details, see Change the Still Duration when inserting a shape (how many seconds to pause during playback).
④ Expiration notifications for AR alignment data are now sent as a weekly summary
Scan data used for AR alignment expires if it is not opened in AR for about one year, and alignment can no longer be performed. When scan data is nearing expiration, we send an email notification to the person who created it, as well as to owners and Team Administrators.
Until now, notifications were sent 14, 7, 3, and 1 days before expiration, on each of those days. Because each scan data has a different expiration date, teams with a lot of scan data were receiving emails almost every day. With this release, notifications are now sent as a summary every Monday.
- Notifications are sent twice: about two weeks before expiration and about one week before. On Monday, the scan data that falls due in that week is sent together as a summary.
- The email now shows the team name.
- Emails sent to owners and Team Administrators include the names and links of the SOPs that use that scan data (up to 3).
- Scan data whose expiration was extended by opening it in AR will also be notified again when its next due date approaches.
If you open the relevant SOP in AR once before the expiration date (to run alignment), the expiration date is extended.
For details, see Supported AR alignment technologies.
⑤ Other bug fixes
●Video editor
- We fixed an issue where pressing the “Merge” button in a section set to Cut would keep the video cut but move only that section’s title and text to the previous step. The “Merge” button is no longer shown in sections set to Cut. It is also not shown in sections where every earlier section is cut (for example, the step right after the beginning of the video is cut), because there is no earlier step to merge into.
- We fixed an issue where sections that were not merged could appear as if they were merged. The merged display now appears only when sections are actually merged.
What this means for existing customers
There are no changes to SOP content or settings. Please check the following points.
- AI connections cannot be used until an owner turns this feature on. If it is not turned on, nothing changes from before.
- For steps where subtitles fall within a shape’s Still Duration, the subtitle narration is recreated when you open the SOP online after the release. The first time you open it, you may see “Preparing the audio for this step...” On devices where you have used “Preload,” the previous narration plays until you open the SOP online.
- The first time you export an SOP containing such steps to MP4 after the release, it may take longer to create because the narration is recreated.
- The new display of long subtitles applies to the screens you play from now on and to the MP4 files you export from now on. MP4 files that have already been exported will not change. To use the new display, export them again.
