In this release, SOPs longer than 30 min can now be exported as MP4 for up to 3 hours on the Pro plan or higher. We have also greatly reduced the time it takes to prepare subtitle narration for SOPs made from a single long video, and made translation display more stable. On the [Contract information] tab, you can now register multiple email addresses as invoice recipients.
① SOPs longer than 30 min can now be exported as MP4 (up to 3 hours)
Until now, MP4 export was only available for SOPs up to about 30 min in total length, and longer SOPs had to be split into separate SOPs by you. In this release, SOPs longer than 30 min are split at step splits, created as separate parts, and joined into one MP4 for delivery. SOPs of up to 3 hours can now be exported.
●How to use
As before, export from [Export] → [MP4 export] in the SOP. For SOPs longer than 30 min, before creation starts, the screen shows how many parts the SOP will be split into and the approximate time until completion. Click [Create MP4] to start creation. We will notify you by email when it is complete.
●How split creation works
- Where to split is at a step split (between steps). A step is never cut in the middle.
- The parts are created at the same time and then joined into one file, so even long SOPs keep the waiting time short.
- If you press [Export] again during creation, the progress is shown, for example: "Creating MP4 data (3 parts in progress, 1 done)".
- If a revision of the SOP is published during creation, creation is canceled so that different versions are not mixed, and we will notify you by email. Please export again.
- If the finished MP4 file is large (500 MB or higher), it is downloaded directly without being loaded into the browser.
●Requirements
- MP4 export for SOPs longer than 30 min is available on the Pro and Enterprise plans. SOPs of 30 min or less can still be used on the Lite plan or higher, as before.
- SOPs in which a single step is longer than about 30 min cannot be exported. Add a split with the [Scissors] button in the video editor and divide that step into parts of 30 min or less, and you can export it.
- SOPs longer than 3 hours cannot be exported. Please split the content into multiple SOPs, or use PDF export.
For details, see MP4 export.
② Faster subtitle narration preparation for SOPs made from long videos
Until now, for SOPs made by dividing one long video, preparing the subtitle narration audio could take several minutes per step. The subtitle narration audio was created from the start of the original video, so later steps in the video took longer.
In this release, subtitle narration audio is now created from the start of each step. Preparation now takes only a few seconds to a dozen or so seconds per step. The audio data is also smaller, so less data needs to be loaded onto the device for playback and preloading.
●Translation display is also more stable
- If translation temporarily fails, for example due to communication issues, the step is not shown in the original language. Instead, it is automatically translated again after some time. While it is being translated again, "Preparing the translation for this step..." is shown.
- When you switch the translation language, narration preparation for the previous language stops, and the language you switched to is prepared first.
Previously, when you switched the translation language several times in a row, depending on the network environment, the text of a step might not be translated and was shown in the original language. This improvement also resolves that issue.
For details, see Subtitle & text narration feature.
③ You can now register multiple email addresses for invoice recipients
On the [Contract information] tab in [Subscription, estimates & orders], you can now register up to 5 email addresses for [Invoice recipient]. This is useful when you want to send invoices to both the person in charge of accounting and the person in charge of the contract.
●How to register
Click the [Profile] icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, and open [Subscription, estimates & orders]. On the [Contract information] tab, click the Edit button for [Invoice recipient] under [Contact]. Uncheck [Set same as contract administrator], then enter the email addresses in [Email], separated by commas.
- All registered addresses receive one email. The 1st address is set as To, and the 2nd and later addresses are set as CC.
- Changes can be made by the Owner or Team Administrator.
- This applies to subscriptions for which we send invoices.
We also fixed an issue where, if only email addresses were registered as the invoice recipient, "Same as contract administrator" was displayed. The registered email addresses are now shown.
For details, see About paid plan contracts, billing, renewals, and cancellations.
④ Other improvements and bug fixes
●MP4 export
- Fixed an issue where, when loading non-video steps (such as images and PDFs) took time, the MP4 audio could drift out of sync with the video in later steps.
Impact on existing customers
No changes to the SOP content or settings. Please check the following points.
- Subtitle narration audio created before this release will be recreated in the new format when you open the SOP online. Recreating takes only a few seconds per step. However, the first time you open the SOP after the release, "Preparing the audio for this step..." may be displayed.
- On devices where you have preloaded a SOP, opening it online replaces the narration audio for the opened language with the new version. You can still play it offline as before.
- When you export a SOP that uses subtitle narration as MP4 for the first time after the release, creation may take longer because the narration audio is recreated. For SOPs with many steps, you may receive a notification email saying that creation has failed. In that case, please export again. Because the recreated audio is kept, the second attempt will go further.
- The display for Invoice recipient may change from "Same as contract administrator" to the registered email addresses. The destinations for invoices do not change.
