This guide provides recommended device specifications and network requirements for viewing SOPs on tablets or smartphones at the workplace, and for creating or editing SOPs on a PC.
The specifications listed here are guidelines only and do not define the boundary between supported and unsupported configurations. You can use Dive even with devices below these specifications. Use these recommendations as a reference if you want to improve loading speed and operational responsiveness. Please note that this information is current as of August 2026.
For a list of supported browsers and compatible devices, see Differences between supported devices and apps.
Video delivery method
Dive videos are delivered using adaptive streaming that automatically adjusts image quality based on your current network conditions. In environments with slower connections, quality is automatically reduced to prioritize playback, so the maximum bandwidth required is approximately 3 Mbps.
This automatic quality switching applies to videos uploaded on or after December 1, 2025, 1:00 PM. Videos uploaded before that date are not included. For details, see 2025-12-01 [Improvement Release] Video loading speed enhancement.
Recommended specifications
For viewing on-site (tablets and smartphones)
| Item | Guideline | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 8GB or higher | Devices with 4GB are also supported. Browser and video playback may consume memory closely, and performance differences are noticeable in this area. |
| CPU | Mid-range or higher from within the last 3 years | As of August 2026, examples include Snapdragon 6 series, MediaTek Helio G99, and Dimensity 7000 series. |
| Storage | 128GB or higher | If using Preload, plan for approximately 20GB of available space. |
| OS and browser | Android 12 or higher / iPadOS 16 or higher | Use the latest version of your browser. Google Chrome is recommended. |
| Display | 10 inches or larger | Use approximately 1920 × 1200 as your resolution guideline. |
| Network | Wi-Fi 5 (IEEE 802.11ac) or higher | Plan for approximately 3 to 5 Mbps effective throughput per device viewing simultaneously. |
For creating or editing SOPs (PC)
Video AI analysis and conversion are performed on Dive's servers, so PC performance does not affect processing time. PC performance matters for three tasks: editing SOPs, exporting to PDF, Excel, or PowerPoint, and 3D editing.
| Item | Guideline | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 8GB or higher (16GB recommended for better comfort) | Memory is used when editing SOPs that contain long videos and when exporting to PDF, Excel, or PowerPoint. |
| CPU | Core i5 / Ryzen 5 equivalent or higher | Use devices released within the last 5 years as a guideline. |
| OS | Windows 10 (64-bit) or higher / macOS 12 or later | |
| Browser | Latest version of Google Chrome | Microsoft Edge and Safari are also supported. Google Chrome is recommended. |
| Display | Full HD (1920 × 1080) or higher | Larger screens make editing SOPs easier. |
| Graphics | WebGL support | This is required for 3D editing. Standard integrated graphics typically support this. |
| Network | 10 Mbps or higher for upload | This is the guideline for uploading videos. For viewing only, approximately 3 to 5 Mbps is the guideline. |
Troubleshooting slow loading
When videos take a long time to load, the issue is often the network environment rather than device specifications. Try the following troubleshooting steps first.
- From the same location, open the same SOP from a different device (PC or smartphone).
- If the other device is also slow, the network environment at that location is likely the cause. Check the distance from the access point and signal strength.
- If the other device plays without problems, the original device is likely the issue. Try the methods below.
Improving performance without replacing devices
Using Preload
From the menu for each SOP in the Procedure list, select Preload to save the video to the device. Loading SOPs in advance in a location with good signal (such as an office) allows playback at the job site without waiting for loading, and enables playback even in areas without signal. For details, see Does Dive support offline playback of SOPs?
Using smartphone and tablet apps
In locations with poor network conditions, we recommend using the dedicated smartphone and tablet app instead of a web browser. Preloaded data is stored in the app's internal storage, ensuring stable retention. Note that playback range is automatically saved to the device in both the web browser and the app. For installation instructions, see How to install the app and verify operation.
Other measures
For other troubleshooting steps such as clearing browser cache or reducing playback quality, see Video SOPs are not playing.
