Cutting out unnecessary parts
If there are unnecessary parts of the video, cut them out.
- In the timeline, click the [eye] button on the unnecessary split (in the example below, we assume the content of Step 4 is not needed).
-
When you cut a section, it is filled in black. The numbers of the steps that follow are also updated.
- If you do not want to separate the steps that follow, click the [Merge] button.
- The steps are merged and treated as one step. The cut section becomes shorter, and the numbers of the steps that follow also change.
In a section that is merged, the [Merge] button turns blue. Click it again to remove the merge.
The [Merge] button is not shown for a cut section, or for a section where all the sections before it are cut (for example, the step right after cutting the beginning of the video). A cut section does not become a step, and for a section where all the sections before it are cut, there is no step to merge it with.
Adjusting splits
● Changing split timing
You can change it by dragging the split.
● Adding a split
Move to the spot where you want to add a split, then click the [scissors] button.
The step created after the split inherits the Title, Work content, Tips, Quality Warning, Important safety information, and Reading settings from the step before it was split. You only need to delete the unnecessary part. Questions and attached files are not inherited, because of the rule of one per step; they stay in the step before the split.
● Deleting a split
Click the line of the split you want to delete, and a red [×] button appears at the position of the split. You can delete it by clicking the [×] button or pressing the Delete key. When you delete a split, the steps before and after it are combined into one step.
To delete all splits at once and return to one step, click [Batch operations] → [Delete all splits].
If you delete something by mistake, you can undo it with Ctrl+Z.
What happens when steps are merged
Deleting a split, the [Merge] button, and merging a cut section all work the same way.
- If the steps before and after contain the exact same sentence, that sentence is not listed twice
- If attached files are duplicated, they are combined
- Each step can have only one question, so if you combine several steps that have questions, the questions other than the first one are not kept. In that case, the message "Keeps the question of the first step, and the other ◯ question(s) will not be exported." is displayed. You can undo it with Ctrl+Z
