Video Embed is a feature that lets you overlay a second video on top of your main video and play them at the same time. Use it when you want to show footage shot from different angles side by side, or display both an overall view and a close-up of hands simultaneously.
Playback Speed and Cut Range automatically sync with the main video, so you don't need to manage the playback position of the embedded video separately.
When to use this
- You have footage of a task shot from different angles simultaneously and want to show both videos in parallel
- You want to show both the Overall view and close-up of hands at the same time for a multi-angle understanding
- You have tasks running in parallel across two Process steps and want to show both videos simultaneously
Enable Video Embed
- In the SOP editor, open a SOP with video and enter video editing mode
- Open the "Use feature" menu (gear-shaped popover) at the top of the player
- Turn ON the "Video Embed" checkbox
A Video Embed track (light blue track) will be added to the timeline.
Add Video Embed to the timeline
- In the timeline, position the playhead at the point where you want to start embedding
- Click the [+] button on the Video Embed track (tooltip: "Add video embed here")
- The Media browser will open. Select the video you want to embed
- A video embed block will be added to the timeline (initial length is 5 seconds)
After adding, you can edit it as follows:
- Drag the left and right edges of the block: Expand or shrink the time Range to be played
- Drag the entire block: Move the embed position (Start time)
- Click the block and operate on the canvas: Adjust display position, Size, and Rotate (same controls as main Shapes)
When you play the SOP, the embedded video will play on top of the main video during this time range.
Use Subtitles on the embedded video
You can also attach and display Subtitles on the embedded video.
- Click and Select the video embed block on the timeline
- Click the "Subtitles" button displayed on the block
- In the Subtitle add/edit screen, Set the time Range and text
※ Subtitles are added manually, not auto-generated. Even if the source video has AI-Analyzed Subtitles, they won't automatically appear on the embed block. Register any needed Subtitles individually.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What happens to the audio of the embedded video?
A. The audio from the main video takes priority. The audio from the embedded video will not play. If you want to Switch audio as well, split the audio section on the main video side or structure it as a separate video by dividing the steps.
Q. Can I Add Shapes and Mosaic to the embedded video?
A. Yes. With the video embed block Selected, you can place Shapes using the same operation as inserting normal Shapes. You can adjust position, Size, and Rotate using the same UI as the main video.
Q. Can I place multiple embedded videos side by side?
A. Yes, as long as the time ranges do not overlap, you can place multiple embeds in one SOP. If you try to Add a second embed at the same playback position, you'll see a warning: "A video overlay already exists at this playback position".
Q. Can I set the playback speed of the embedded video separately from the main video?
A. No. The embed is designed to sync with the main video's Playback Speed and Cut Range. If you need to adjust the speed individually, Edit the speed in the source video before embedding it.
