We've completed a major update to Skill Map. Traditionally, you could only define categories and create maps, with education planning managed separately. This time, we've taken a big step forward to provide both "creation assistance that makes startup easy" and "education planning that drives continuous development." This article highlights the key improvements in this update.
① 31 Industry Templates Now Standard
Previously, you had to build skill categories, subcategories, skill items, and Evaluation Criteria from scratch, which created a heavy burden during initial setup. With this update, we've included 31 industry-specific templates as standard, so you can have a complete foundation just by selecting one.
● Included Templates (31 total)
- Manufacturing 21 types: Sheet metal processing / Machining / Molds / Pressing / Welding / Surface treatment / Casting / Steel structure fabrication / Injection molding / Rubber and plastic / Chemicals / Automotive parts assembly / Industrial machinery assembly / Precision equipment assembly / Control panel assembly / SMT assembly / Wire harness / Food manufacturing / Printing / Textiles / Woodworking
- Manufacturing common 4 types: 5S and safety / QC and quality management / TPM and maintenance / Improvement activities
- Other industries 6 types: Care / Construction / Food / Logistics / Office / Retail
When you select a template to deploy, categories, subcategories, skill items, Evaluation Criteria for each Level, and recommended target Levels are imported all at once. You can edit names and Evaluation Criteria after importing to match your company's terminology.
② Bulk Import from Excel
You can now import skill management tables that were previously managed in Excel directly into Dive. You can migrate to Dive without discarding your existing assets.
● Import workflow
- Upload an Excel File (refer to the content of Export to Excel for the format)
- Preview the differences: Add new, Update, or No changes
- Once confirmed, it's reflected in the Skill Map
You can review the import content in the Preview screen before applying it, reducing the risk of accidentally overwriting existing data and allowing you to proceed with confidence in your migration.
③ Education Planning Feature (Level-Specific Schedules + Education Instructor Assignment)
Previously, Skill Map was mainly focused on "visualizing current competency levels," and education planning—"who will teach whom and by when"—was typically managed separately. With this redesign, you can now create education plans within the Skill Map itself.
● Before and After Comparison
- Before: Skill items and Level definitions in Dive, education plans in Excel or verbal communication, OJT Work records managed by individuals. Now: For each skill, you Assign Lv1 / Lv2 / Lv3 / Lv4 Plan periods and instructors directly in Dive, and progress Status is automatically calculated.
● What You Can Do Specifically
- Level-Based Plan Period Settings: For a single Skill, you can set independent Start dates and deadlines for each Level—for example, "reach Lv2 in 3 months → Lv3 in 6 months → Lv4 in 1 year." You can map step-by-step development directly into your plan.
- Instructor Assignment: Assign to each Level who will teach that Skill. Instructors can see in their dedicated instructor dashboard a list of "what I need to teach, to whom, and by when."
- Status Automatically Calculated: Planned / In progress / Complete / Achieved Status is automatically computed from the set periods and evaluation history. There's no need for instructors to manually input progress individually.
- Change History Retained: All changes to Plan periods and instructors are kept as history and can be used as evidence data for personnel evaluation and audits.
With this, Skill Map transitions from "an evaluation table of current state" to a "development platform that plans and executes who to develop, to what Level, by when, and by whom."
④ New Personal Skill Page
We've added a new Personal page to make it easier for employees and supervisors to understand individual skill levels.
- View Self-evaluation, Target Level, and evaluation history all on one screen
- Integration of Level settings modal and Cycle format (evaluation → target → next evaluation)
- Timeline display lets you see proficiency progression at a glance
- Dedicated mobile view for smartphone and tablet viewing and editing
⑤ Other Improvements
- Design and Wording Unified: Unified design and terminology across skill definitions / Skill Map / Personal page / instructor page to eliminate confusion when navigating between screens
- English UI Support: Skill screens are now available in English, allowing overseas facility managers and field staff to use the same platform
- Enhanced Search: Significantly expanded filtering capabilities by Skill name and SOP name
- Excel Export Support: Skill definitions table and individual Skill tables can be exported in Excel format
- Revision Auto-tracking: Automatically updates when revisions change for SOPs Linked to Skills, so Links don't become outdated
- Avatar Support and User Name Display Standardization: Improved readability of User display
For Existing Users
This update is designed to preserve your existing skill definitions and evaluation data as is. The Skill Map you've created so far will continue to be available, so please rest assured.
New features you can take advantage of (adding industry templates, setting education plans, assigning education instructors, etc.) can be tried progressively, starting with the Skills and Levels you need.
Rather than "create and done," we want your Skill Map to become a platform where development keeps running in the field. We hope this update becomes your partner in people development.
Thank you for continuing to use Dive.
