This feature in the video editor lets you listen to subtitle narration in real time. Before exporting and playing the entire SOP, you can check intonation, speed, and reading accuracy on a subtitle-by-subtitle basis.

When to use this

Verify technical terms are pronounced correctly before exporting
Check if pausing sounds natural in longer subtitles
After updating the Pronunciation Dictionary, hear the effect immediately
Verify that translated subtitles in multiple languages are easy to understand when narrated

Prerequisites

Subtitle narration must be ON for the target step (OFF subtitles cannot be previewed)
The subtitle you want to preview must have text entered (hidden or blank subtitles are excluded)

You can toggle subtitle narration ON/OFF in the Audio settings when you select a step in the video editor, using the Narration target option (select Subtitles to preview).

Preview a single subtitle

Open the video editor and check the subtitles arranged in the timeline at the bottom
Click the [Preview] button (speaker icon) for the subtitle you want to hear
The video seeks to the start of the subtitle, and the narration plays in real time (the video syncs and moves along with it)
Click the same button again to stop

When the video is playing, the subtitle shown on screen can also be previewed in the same way using the speaker icon that appears above the video.

About video and audio synchronization

During preview, the original video audio automatically mutes, and only the narration is heard
The video position and narration audio stay synchronized, and stop automatically after the subtitle interval
Cut sections (segments excluded during editing) are compressed on the audio side just like in the final version
If you seek in the timeline while previewing, the preview stops automatically

Tips for effective use

Check technical terms subtitle by subtitle: you can pinpoint and preview individual subtitles multiple times
Combine with the Pronunciation Dictionary: if there are words you want to correct, register them in the Pronunciation Dictionary and verify the effect with preview
Also use for translation verification: even translated subtitles can be previewed with narration in that language in real time
Caching works: identical subtitles play immediately on subsequent plays. The cycle of fine-tuning and re-previewing runs faster
Preview does not affect the SOP itself: because it is preview-only, confirmed narration data remains unchanged

When preview doesn't work or there is no sound

Check that the Narration target for the target step is set to Subtitles (not None or Description)
If the subtitle has no text or is set to Hide, it cannot be previewed
Check that your browser audio is not muted and that your PC volume is turned up
First-time playback requires user action (a click). Auto-play may be blocked by browser restrictions
