We have refined the branching feature for SOPs. We have resolved the operational friction points you have experienced, such as "it is hard to see where branching is located" and "when a branching question is ON, a wrong answer forces a retry." This article introduces the details of this update.
① Visually confirm which steps have branching in the edit screen at a glance
You can now visually confirm which steps have branching in various places in the SOP edit screen. You no longer need to open each question editor one by one to check whether branching is configured.
- Before: Whether branching was configured could be determined only by opening the question editor for each step and accessing the branching editor
- Now: The presence or absence of branching is immediately clear in step cards, group cards, question editor headings, and the branching button
●Main features
- Step card question badge: Steps with configured branching display as "Question type name (Branching)" (for example: Multiple Choice (Branching))
- Group card: The number of branches in that group is shown as "Question count: N (Branching M)"
- Question editor heading: Even when collapsed, the heading displays the "(Branching)" suffix
- "Configure branching" button: When branching is already configured, a "Configured" tag appears on the right side
② Questions with branching ON are now treated as "Route Determination" rather than "Correct Answer Quiz"
Branching is fundamentally a route determination used to switch which step to proceed to next based on the answer. Previously, this was mixed with the correct/incorrect judgment of questions, which resulted in cases where questions with branching ON forced retries on wrong answers or displayed "error" in the table of contents. With this update, questions with branching ON now behave consistently as "Route Determination".
●Specific changes (viewer experience)
- Wrong answers do not stop progress: In questions with branching ON, the viewer proceeds to the selected branch. No "That is incorrect" alert or toast is displayed
- Suppress correct/incorrect display: In the question modal and table of contents (Step list), branching questions are shown as "Answered" rather than with correct/incorrect marks
- Questions are asked every time even after answering: Because the answer in a branching question determines the next transition path, the question is asked every time when returning to that step (route determination is performed on each visit)
●Guards for editors
- For questions where branching is ON and a "Correct" answer is also set, the editor displays "Because branching is ON, correct/incorrect judgment is ignored (you proceed to the branch based on your answer)"
- This prevents confusion from setting up branching but having it also behave as a correct answer quiz
※ The record of correctness is still maintained internally, so reporting such as the Usage Report is not affected. Only the behavior and display when viewing have been organized as "Route Determination."
Usage examples
- Inventory of SOPs with branching: Use the "(Branching)" display on step and group cards to quickly identify which SOPs have branching integrated
- Interview-style rather than judgment-style SOPs: For flows that branch to the next step based on choices with no correct answer, such as "Abnormal/Normal" or "Type A/Type B", you can guide viewers smoothly without forced retries
- SOPs that loop through the same step multiple times: In cases where you want branching to be judged based on the current situation on revisits (loop inspection, status confirmation), asking every time ensures users follow the correct route
