"I want to shoot video for each step, then upload them all at once." "I just want to check the content before working, but questions keep popping up and blocking me." "On a noisy shop floor, we play video without sound, so I want to see the video bigger." — We've heard these requests many times. We're addressing all of them now. At the same time, we're letting you set how playback looks for each SOP.
① Create SOP from multiple media at once
Until now, you created an SOP one media file at a time. If you had 10 short videos shot for each step, you had to import them one at a time or join them into a single video first.
Now, you can take the media you select and make them into an SOP all at once. Each video becomes one step, and each image becomes one step.
● Use it from three places
- Media page: Select in "Bulk selection mode", then tap "Create SOP in the order selected"
- Create new: Select multiple in the creation modal and create as-is
- Insert steps: Add multiple media at once to the SOP you're editing
● The order you select becomes the step order
Selected cards show numbers 1, 2, 3, ... Before you proceed, open the list in "Check the order" and rearrange them if you want.
● The way you select media matches the media page: "Bulk selection mode"
The media selection modal used to switch to a checkbox-filled screen the moment it opened. For people who only want to pick one item, it looked different from the usual media page. Now the modal has the same "Bulk selection mode" toggle as the media page. When you turn it on, the selection screen appears. If you use a mouse, checkboxes pop up when you hover over a card, and you can go straight into selection mode.
② Added Reference mode (skip questions and read)
SOPs with questions built in as a checklist are made for answering as you work. But for reading like "I want to check through the steps before working" or "I want to look back at the steps later," questions appearing every time become a burden. As more teams use us as a checklist, we kept hearing this request. Sorry to keep you waiting.
We added a "Reference mode" toggle to the playback screen footer (it only shows on SOPs with questions). Turn it on to skip questions and read straight through. You can also switch from the question screen.
● A viewing in Reference mode doesn't count as work record
- Only the time you actually skip questions is marked "Reference" in records. In "Viewing records," it shows as "Reference (no questions)" and doesn't count toward checklist totals or training course completion
- SOPs with no questions, a viewing where you didn't hit a question, or a viewing where you switched it back off before a question all remain as normal records as before
- When you watch to the end, it shows "You have watched to the end" instead of "Completion report." If you want it to count as work, switch it back off and watch again
● You can see on screen if it's still on
Since the setting is saved to your device, you might open it by accident while it's still on. While you're in Reference mode, we show that fact and "it won't be recorded" on screen.
③ Collapse the step text pane to see video bigger
"On noisy shop floors, we play with no sound. We want to follow steps using video and subtitles alone. We want you to hide the text pane on the right, which we never look at, so our eyes don't have to move." — We've heard this request many times.
In July 2026, we released it as "Hide text," but the screen still showed a guidance band and a toggle to show/hide text. That didn't meet the real request: "show the video bigger." We were hiding the text AND collapsing the pane, doing both at once.
This time, we've unified it to collapse the pane itself. When you open an SOP with this setting, the text pane on the right collapses, and video or images fill the whole screen. The guidance band and display toggle are gone.
● Viewers can always open it
Press the "Step" tab in the divider between video and text pane to open the pane right then. Press again to collapse it. You can also move steps with the keyboard's ← → arrows.
● Where the setting is
In the SOP edit screen, "Basic information" > "Playback & display settings" > "Open with the step text pane collapsed". You can also set it from "Step conversion settings" when creating an SOP from media.
④ Set how playback looks for each SOP
Subtitle position and text size were decided by the viewer's device setting. That's fine for just watching — everyone can set it to what they like. But it's a problem for MP4 export. Export always opens fresh, so the look is decided by the exporter's device setting, and you can't get the subtitle position or text size you aimed for.
We added per-SOP settings to "Playback & display settings" in "Basic information" on the SOP edit screen.
● What you can set
- Original language: What language this SOP is written in. It's the basis for translation and read-aloud
- Open with the step text pane collapsed: On playback, the text pane on the right opens folded
- Subtitle position (Advanced display settings): Top / Bottom / Left / Right / Hidden
- Text size (Advanced display settings): Font size for text pane, step list, and questions
- Items to read aloud (Advanced display settings): Which items to include in read-aloud. The body text is always read
Subtitle position and text size both default to "Follow device setting." In that case, as before, the viewer gets whatever they switched to on the playback screen. Set them when you want to control how it looks on MP4 export.
● We put the setting you must check first
We also cleaned up the order of "Playback & display settings" and put Original language first. Subtitle position, text size, and items to read aloud — the ones you don't need to worry about — are tucked under "Advanced display settings".
⑤ Insert steps in the middle of a video step block
We heard a lot: "I want to add a different step in the middle of a step made from one video." Until now, you had to use "Split step block" to cut the block in two, then add a new step. That's two steps when splitting isn't really the goal — you just want to insert.
This time, we put inserting and splitting in one screen. Open it from the split icon in the video step block header. On the left, the steps in this block; on the right, where to insert steps (the gaps). Tap a dotted frame to pick what goes there. You can pick video, images, files, copied steps — anything you'd pick with a regular "+ Add step".
● It won't go into the SOP until you decide
What you place in a gap doesn't show up until you tap "Confirm." You can place things in several gaps and see how the order looks before you finalize. If you want to skip a gap, use "Cancel inserting here."
● For video media, pick only the segment you use
When you pick video media to insert, you can pick which segment of that media to use. Before, you had to cut out all the parts you didn't need. Now that work is gone. Segments you didn't pick don't disappear — they become cuts, so you can bring them back later in the video editor.
You can also put one video's steps into several gaps one at a time. That's useful when you want to weave short videos shot in order into the gaps of existing steps.
● Replace works the same way
When you replace a step's content with video, you can pick which segments to use the same way. If you pick the same number of segments as the step you're replacing, your current text and questions stay. While you're picking, we show how many you've picked and how many you can pick while keeping your text.
● Media selection remembers your last pick
The media selection screen opens with your last pick selected and scrolled to that position. When you're adding from the same video again, you don't have to hunt for it every time. This memory is per media type — if you picked a video, then open images, it won't jump back to the last video.
After you split (insert), the blocks are independent for cuts, subtitles, shapes, and audio settings. Changes to one after that don't show in the other. Text, questions, and subtitles stay in both. Note: You can't do this on video steps made with the old design.
How it affects existing SOPs
The new settings in ④ all default to "as before." Unless you set them, existing SOPs look the same. ② Reference mode starts off. ③ carries over any "Hide text" setting you already have — no need to set it again. ⑤'s entry replaces the old "Split step block". You can still split for splitting's sake.
