This is a playback mode for reading through a SOP with questions without answering them. Use it when you want to briefly confirm the details before work, or when you want to review the SOP later.
Times when you skip questions in Reference mode are not included in the inspection count and Training courses completion.
What is Reference Mode
Normally, when reading an SOP with questions, you read while answering the questions. When you enable Reference mode, questions are not displayed, and you can proceed to the next step as-is.
It is not a setting per SOP, but a setting that the viewer switches on the playback screen. When enabled, until you turn it off, subsequent steps and other SOPs will not show questions. The setting is remembered on the device.
However, the dedicated UI for smart glasses (Vuzix M400 series, RealWear Navigator series) does not remember it. Each time you open an SOP, it always starts in the off state. On the dedicated UI, switching can only be done from the question screen, so if it were remembered as on, no questions would appear and you could not turn it off.
On an SOP with no questions set, the switch is not displayed.
How to Switch
From the playback screen
- Play the SOP
- Enable [Reference mode] at the bottom of the screen (displayed as [Reference] when the screen is narrow)
The dedicated UI for smart glasses does not have this line where [Reference mode] appears. Use the method below "From the question screen" to switch.
From the question screen
The [Reference mode (skip questions)] switch is also available on the screen where the question is displayed. If you realize you want to read without answering after the question appears, you can switch right there.
Handling of Records
Only times when you actually skip questions in Reference mode are recorded as "Reference". In work records, it is displayed as Reference (no questions), and is not included in the inspection count and Training courses completion.
In the following cases, a normal record is kept even if Reference mode is on.
- Times when you viewed an SOP with no questions at all
- Times when you finished reading without encountering questions
- Times when you turned Reference mode off before reaching the questions
When you finish watching to the end, "You have watched to the end" is displayed instead of a completion report. If you want to keep a record of work or Training courses completion, turn Reference mode off and review from the start.
When It Is Unintentionally On
Since the setting is remembered on the device, you may open an SOP with it still on from last time (on the dedicated UI for smart glasses, this situation does not occur). While viewing in Reference mode, the screen displays that fact and that the record will not be kept. If you want to keep a record, turn the switch off and review from the start.
