This feature lets the AI you use at work, such as Claude or ChatGPT, search and read Dive SOPs. When you ask the AI something like “Tell me the steps for XX,” it searches the published SOPs in Dive, answers you, and adds a link that opens that step in Dive. When you click the link, the SOP with video opens at that step.
It uses MCP, a common standard for connecting AI with external services. Dive provides the server, so you don't need to install anything on your computer. Just add the Dive connection URL to your AI's settings and allow access with your Dive account.
Available on the Lite, Core, Pro, and Enterprise plans. To start using it, a team Owner needs to turn it on. This feature is offered as a beta version.
※ Before using this feature, be sure to read the “Compliance Requirements and Disclaimer” at the bottom of this article. By using this feature, you are deemed to have agreed to its contents.
What you can do with AI connections
The AI can do only two things in Dive: search for SOPs and read them. It cannot create, edit, or delete SOPs.
- Search: Searches by SOP title, step name, work details, tips, quality, safety, Items used / Document number, and the body text of File-based SOPs.
- Read: Reads the work details, tips, quality, and safety of each step in the SOPs it finds, along with Items used / Document number. For File-based SOPs (existing manuals such as PDFs), it reads the body text of each page. For Related files, it reads only the title and type.
The AI can read only the published SOPs that the person who connected is allowed to view in Dive. It cannot read drafts or SOPs that the person cannot view. It does not pass videos or images to the AI. To view an SOP, click the link in the AI's answer and open it in Dive. It also does not pass on questions or the names of people, such as authors.
Before you start (Owner settings)
AI connections are set to Not in use by default. When the team Owner turns it on, members can connect from their own AI tools. The Owner makes this setting from a browser on a PC.
- Open [Owner Functions] from the side menu.
- Select the [Integrations] tab at the top, and then open [AI connections (MCP)].
- Check [Let the AI your company uses, such as Claude or ChatGPT, search and read Dive SOPs].
- Click [Save].
After you save, the [Connection URL] appears on the card. Ask your members to add this URL to their AI settings to connect.
On the Enterprise plan, you can choose which AIs are allowed to connect (Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini) under [AIs allowed to connect]. All of them are selected by default. On other plans, members can connect from any AI in the list.
If you uncheck the box and save, all connections from connected AIs are cut. Connections to AIs removed from the list of AIs allowed to connect are also cut. If any connections will be cut, a screen appears before you save so you can confirm the number.
Guest accounts cannot connect.
For teams that use IP address restriction, AI connections cannot be used by default, because connections from AIs come from the servers of the AI companies. On the Enterprise plan, if the Owner checks [Allow AI connections even when IP address restriction is in use] on the card and saves, the AIs listed below can be used from then on. This row is shown only to teams that use IP address restriction.
- AIs registered by your company (Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini Enterprise)
- Claude (connections from the sources published by Anthropic)
ChatGPT cannot be used by teams that use IP address restriction, because its list of connection sources may change. This setting applies only to AI connections and does not affect your regular login. Grant permission for an AI connection (on the “Connection to Dive” screen) from a place where IP address restriction allows you to use Dive.
Connecting with Claude
This section uses Claude (Claude.ai and Claude Desktop) as an example. If you connect with another AI, adjust the steps to the AI you use.
※ Claude is a service of Anthropic, not one provided by us. Please read the “Compliance Requirements and Disclaimer” below and use it at your own responsibility.
- Open Claude.ai or Claude Desktop.
- In the left menu, open [Customize], select [Connectors], and then click [Add] to open the screen for adding a custom connector.
-
Enter “Dive” as the name and “https://app.divedx.com/api/mcp” as the URL, then click [Continue].
-
The authentication settings appear. Check that [Authentication] is set to [Sign in now] and [OAuth Client] is set to [Use Claude's public identity], and that “Discovered” is displayed. Then click [Add].
-
On the Dive connector screen, click [Connect].
- The Dive screen opens. If you are not logged in, log in with the account you normally use for Dive.
-
On the “Connection to Dive” screen, check the contents and click [Allow]. If you belong to multiple teams, choose the Team to connect before you allow.
-
Return to the Claude screen. If “Connected to Dive.” is displayed, the setup is complete. The Dive connector screen shows two read-only tools (Read a work procedure and Search work procedures).
When you connect, Dive sends you an email to let you know that a new AI has been connected. If you receive a notice about a connection you don't recognize, disconnect it by following the steps in “Check and disconnect connected AIs” below.
Try it out
In your AI chat, ask in everyday language. For example:
- “I'm assembling a switchboard, but I don't know the torque setting value.”
- “Find the procedure for cleaning the fryer in Dive.”
The AI searches for SOPs in Dive and answers with a Dive link attached. If the AI answers without using Dive, add “in Dive” to your question.
When you click the link in the answer, the SOP opens at that step. You need to log in to Dive to open it. In Claude, a confirmation appears before an external link opens. Click [Open link].
The AI's answer may include summaries or paraphrases of the SOP. Before you work, check the SOP in Dive using the link.
Connecting with other AIs
ChatGPT
With ChatGPT, too, enter “https://app.divedx.com/api/mcp” as the URL on the screen where you add an MCP server. Logging in to Dive and allowing access on the “Connection to Dive” screen are the same as with Claude. The location and name of the add screen differ depending on the ChatGPT version and plan, and it may not be available depending on your plan or settings. Please check the ChatGPT help.
Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini Enterprise
Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini Enterprise are used after your company's IT administrator registers Dive on the AI side. The values needed for registration are issued in Dive.
- The Owner opens [AIs registered by your company] on the [AI connections (MCP)] card and clicks [Add registration].
- Choose the Place of use (Microsoft 365 admin center, Copilot Studio, or Gemini Enterprise), enter a name in the “Enter name” field, and click [Register].
- Using the displayed values and the guide, register Dive on the AI's admin screen. The client secret is displayed only once on this screen, so save it in a safe place.
- For Copilot Studio, paste the redirect URL displayed by Copilot Studio using the pencil icon on the registration row, then save.
For how to operate the AI's admin screen, see the Microsoft or Google help. Depending on the AI, you may need to set up licenses or organization policies on the AI side. After registration, when members start using Copilot or Gemini from their company, they will be asked to log in to Dive and allow access on the “Connection to Dive” screen, just as with Claude.
Check and disconnect connected AIs
You can check the AIs you have connected on the [AI connections] card on the [External service integration] screen.
- Open the User menu at the top right of the screen and click [External service integration]. If a confirmation to move appears, click [Go].
- On the [AI connections] card, the list of AIs you are connected to appears under [Connected AIs] (AI, team, Connected at, and Last used).
- To disconnect, click the icon at the right end of the row (Disconnect), and then click [Disconnect] in the confirmation message.
This card also shows the Connection URL. If AI connections are not turned on for your current team, the card shows a message to that effect.
Even if you remove the connector on the AI side, the connection may remain on the Dive side for some AIs. Disconnect any connections you no longer use from this card. Team Owners can also disconnect connected AIs.
Check usage (for Owners)
Owners can check the team's connections and usage on the [AI connections (MCP)] card.
- [Connected AIs]: See who has connected which AI in a list, along with the connection date and last-used date, and disconnect connections as needed. You can search by name or email.
- [Usage]: For the last 7, 30, and 90 days, you can check the Searches and Reads counts (how many times AIs searched for and read SOPs), by AI, by person, and by SOP. Details including the searched words can be exported as CSV from [Export details as CSV].
The Usage log is kept for 400 days. Records of connecting, disconnecting, and changing settings, as well as records of exporting details as CSV, are also kept in the audit log (Export the audit log as CSV). That the Owner can see the words the AI searched for and the SOPs it read is shown to the person on the “Connection to Dive” screen when they connect.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Which SOPs can the AI read?
A. Only the published SOPs that the person who connected is allowed to view in Dive. The AI never reads SOPs or drafts beyond that person's permissions.
Q. Can the AI rewrite SOPs?
A. No. The AI can only search for and read SOPs.
Q. The AI can no longer use Dive after a while.
A. The connection is cut if the AI is not used for 14 days in a row, or if the time set for [Maximum time from login to logout] in the team's automatic logout has passed (default: 30 days; 90 days if set to unlimited). Reconnect from the AI's screen (Set up automatic logout (Session)).
Q. I belong to more than one team.
A. A single connection can read only the SOPs of the team you selected when you connected. To read SOPs of a different team, reconnect from the AI's screen and select the team again on the “Connection to Dive” screen.
Q. Can I connect with a personal AI account?
A. Yes. If your company wants to limit the AIs it allows, choose them under [AIs allowed to connect] on the Enterprise plan. Please ask members to connect with AI accounts that your company has approved.
Q. Can I use it from a system or AI that my company built?
A. AI connections work only with the AIs in the list (Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini Enterprise). If you want to use it from a chatbot, internal portal, or business system built in-house, use the API on the Enterprise plan (Search and read SOPs from internal systems and AI (API, beta)).
