Yes, you can. Upgrading to a higher plan or adding accounts can be done anytime during the contract period (the change applies immediately).
The difference will be calculated on a daily basis for the remaining duration of your current contract period and charged all at once.
However, if you wish to downgrade your plan, reduce accounts, change the contract period, or cancel your subscription, these changes must be made from "Next renewal plan settings" on the next renewal date, not in the middle of the contract period. Please note that no refund is provided for downgrades.
For details on how to make changes, please refer to About paid plan contracts, billing, renewal, and cancellation.
When you want to upgrade and change the contract period at the same time
Upgrading to a higher plan and changing the contract period (3-month contract ⇔ annual contract) take effect at different times. An upgrade to a higher plan applies immediately, even during the contract period, while a change to the contract period takes effect on the next renewal date. If you want to do both, follow these two steps:
- In "Next renewal plan settings", select "Change contract period" and set your desired contract period (you must set this 30 days before the subscription end date).
- In "Change subscription", select "Upgrade plan / add accounts" and change to your desired higher plan.
When you complete these steps in this order, your subscription will be updated to "your new plan × your desired contract period" starting on the next renewal date.
Example of changes
If you are currently using the Lite plan on a 3-month contract and want to switch to an annual Pro plan contract
- Subscription period: April 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026 (next renewal date: July 1, 2026)
- Step 1: In "Next renewal plan settings" → "Change contract period" → set "Annual contract" by May 31, 2026
- Step 2: In "Change subscription" → "Upgrade plan / add accounts" → select Pro plan and complete the process
In this case, from the effective date of the change until June 30, 2026, you will continue to use the Pro plan on your current 3-month contract (the difference will be charged on a daily basis). Starting from the renewal date of July 1, 2026, your subscription will switch to an annual Pro plan contract.
The difference is calculated using the unit price of your current contract period. In this example, the difference between "Pro plan 3-month contract price" and "current contract 3-month contract price" is calculated on a daily basis for the remaining days. The annual contract unit price will apply starting July 1, 2026, when you switch to the annual contract.
The start date of the annual contract will be the next renewal date. Please note this when entering the start date in authorization documents or applications.
When you want to use a date in the middle of the current contract period as the starting point
If you wish to start a new contract period beginning on a specific date within your current contract period, we can accommodate this on a case-by-case basis. This type of change cannot be made from the Dive screen, so please contact our Customer Success team (customer-success@episotech.com) to discuss your needs.
Please note that no refund or credit toward the new contract fee will be provided for the unearned portion of your current contract. The new contract period will begin on your specified start date.
How the daily basis difference is calculated
The difference for an upgrade or account addition is calculated using the following formula:
Difference (tax excl.) = (Amount per contract period for new plan - Amount per contract period for current plan) × Remaining days ÷ Total days in contract period
- "Amount per contract period" is monthly fee × 12 months for annual contracts, or monthly fee × 3 months for 3-month contracts.
- "Total days in contract period" is the number of days in your current subscription period (from start date to end date).
- "Remaining days" is the number of days from the effective date to your subscription end date.
- Fractional amounts (decimals) are rounded down.
You will only be charged the difference. Your current contract period and next renewal date remain unchanged. The new plan applies to the remaining contract period from the effective date.
Billing example case study
Currently using Lite plan (annual contract)
Subscription period: January 25, 2025 – January 24, 2026
Upgraded to Pro plan on April 15, 2025
Amount per contract period
- Lite (annual contract): 10,000 yen/month × 12 months = 120,000 yen
- Pro (annual contract): 50,000 yen/month × 12 months = 600,000 yen
- Difference (full amount): 600,000 yen - 120,000 yen = 480,000 yen
Number of days
- Total days in contract period: January 25, 2025 – January 24, 2026 = 365 days
- Remaining days: April 15, 2025 – January 24, 2026 = 285 days
Billing calculation
- Formula: 480,000 yen × 285 days ÷ 365 days
- 374,794.52… → Rounded down: 374,794 yen (tax excl.)
Total billing amount
- Difference (tax excl.): 374,794 yen
- Consumption tax (10%): 37,479 yen
Total: 412,273 yen (tax incl.)
