Dive's External Sharing URL feature (a feature that allows you to share an SOP URL with external parties with an expiry date and without requiring a login) is Disabled by default in its Security Settings. You can switch whether to allow or prohibit sharing with external parties according to your team policy.
For details on how to use the External Sharing URL feature itself, please refer to How to Use External Sharing.
Who Can Configure This
Only users with Owner permission can.
How to Enable
- Click Owner Functions in the side menu
- Select the Security tab at the top and open the Prohibit External Sharing card
- Change the checkbox status
- Uncheck (off): Enable the External Sharing feature (allow sharing with external parties)
- Check (on): Disable the External Sharing feature (internal use only)
-
Click Save
Note: After saving, the settings will take effect and become available once you navigate to another page in Dive or reload the page. If you continue using the current page, please reload it.
Behavior After Enabling
- Once enabled, users who have Allowed roles can use the External Sharing tab in Share from the SOP
- Which roles can use this feature (role threshold) can be controlled separately in Permitted User Roles Per Feature
- Issued URLs are also recorded in the Audit Log (issuance, disabling, restoring, and expiry date changes)
Alternative Methods for External Sharing
As a more secure method for sharing with external parties, Dive also offers Guest Invitation. Use whichever method fits your requirements.

Tips for Effective Use
- Even when allowing external sharing, filter the role threshold (for example, only users who are Created users or higher) makes operations safer
- For teams handling highly confidential SOPs, it is safer to keep external sharing disabled and enable it only temporarily when needed
- For managing and disabling the issuance history, please refer to How to Use External Sharing
