You can switch this team's user devices to a mode that does not save any view data like SOPs, videos, or translations. In exchange, offline playback and preload become unavailable, and a network connection is always required.
Available plans
This feature is available on the Enterprise plan only.
When to use this
- Your company policy requires no view data to remain if a device is lost
- You allow use from personal devices (BYOD) but don't want data stored on them
- You operate in an always-online environment and don't need offline features
Differences from normal behavior
Normally, Dive saves (caches) SOP, video, translation, and other data to devices after it's displayed once. This helps with:
- Faster loading speed on the second and later views
- Offline use
- Preload (download to the device in advance for quick playback in the field)
When you enable this setting, no caching occurs at all, and the above speed improvements, offline playback, and preload become unavailable (network connection is always required).
Who can configure this
Only users with Owner permissions only.
Setup steps
- Open the side menu "Owner Functions"
- Select the top tab "Security" and open the "Device cache settings" card
- Check "Do not store view data on device (offline playback and preload disabled)"
- Click "Save"
Behavior after enabling
- SOP, video, translation, and other data will no longer be cached on devices
- Loading will be slower depending on network conditions since data is read from online sources every time
- Offline playback will not be available
- Preload (advance download for quick playback in the field) will not be available
Tips for best results
- For teams using BYOD or personal devices, operating without storing data on devices is more secure
- Conversely, if you use Dive in an offline factory environment, leaving this setting disabled is necessary or playback will fail in the field
- If you have a hybrid operation (some online devices, some offline sites), note that this setting is applied to the entire team at once
