When you re-run AI analysis on the same video material, the previous analysis results are overwritten. To test questions like "What if I change the split granularity?" or "What if I change the text style to honorific?" while keeping your current results, copy the material first, then change the conditions on the copied version and re-analyze.
The original and copied materials are separate materials, each with their own analysis results, so you can open both and compare them. You do this from a PC browser.
For details on what each option does, see AI Processing Options: What Each Item Does and How to Choose.
When you can use this
If AI analysis results don't look quite right, you have options besides manually editing in the SOP edit screen: you can redo the AI analysis itself. Consider this when you're in one of these situations.
- Step split points are not where you expected them to be
- Steps are too detailed, or not detailed enough
- Step-level questions are not appearing where you want them
- The wording of the body text or subtitles doesn't seem quite right
- You want to test how changing the video description affects the results, using the actual video
If only a few places are misaligned, it's faster to fix them manually through Adjusting Step Splits or Step-Level Question Settings. If the overall alignment feels off, it's faster to change conditions and re-analyze.
If you copy the material before re-analyzing, the original material's analysis results and any SOPs already created will stay as they are, so you can change conditions and compare them.
Steps
1. Copy the material
- Open the [Materials List] in the sidebar
- Click the video you want to test to open its detail modal
- Click [Copy] at the bottom of the detail modal
Copied! appears, and a material called "Original Title (Copy)" is added to the top of the materials list. The analysis results and analysis conditions from that time are carried over as-is from the original material.
Copying does not re-upload the video file, so it does not consume upload limits or AI processing execution count.
2. Re-analyze the copied material
- In the detail modal for the copied material, click [Review AI processing results]
- AI analysis content opens. Click [Re-run AI] in the lower right
- AI analysis settings opens. The previous analysis conditions are pre-filled as defaults, so change only the items you want to test. Note: even with the same conditions, results change with each analysis run, so if you want to keep settings, running again with the same conditions is also recommended
- Click [Start analysis], and the status changes to Processing AI...
Analysis completes in about the same time as your video length. The analysis continues even if you close the app, and you'll receive an email when it's done.
The copied material carries over the original analysis results, but they are replaced with the new results once re-analysis completes. The original results remain in the original material.
3. Compare the results
Open [Review AI processing results] for both the original and copied materials to see the analysis conditions used at that time (split granularity, text style, recognition language, video description, target step count, reference work procedure), plus the generated step list and subtitle list. You can also check the step count and cut steps count here.
Once you decide which version to adopt, create an SOP from that material.
Changeable analysis conditions
These are the main items you can change in AI analysis settings.
- Video description: Writing what kind of work the video is increases analysis accuracy
- Split granularity: Process / Step / Motion / Single
- Text style: Imperative / Honorific / Suggestive (if you registered How to write SOPs, this becomes "Follow policy")
- Subtitle style: The ending for motion subtitles. You can specify this separately from the step text
- Videos without narration (analyzed only by video): Analyzes using video only, ignoring audio
- Recognition Language (in [Advanced settings]): The language of the speakers in the video
- Aggressively cut sections without speech (in [Advanced settings])
- Target step count (in [Advanced settings]): Specify by step count or seconds per step
- Reference work procedure (in [Advanced settings], beta): See Specify a Reference Procedure in Video Analysis (Beta)
Important notes
- Re-analysis counts toward AI processing execution count. Free, Lite, and Core plans have daily execution limits (Free 1 / Lite 5 / Core 10), so be careful if you're running many variations. Pro and Enterprise plans are unlimited
- Materials that are Processing AI... cannot be re-run. Please wait until they complete
- If you copy material shared by other members, the sharing setting for the copy becomes Only me. Change it from the lower left of the detail modal if needed
- Already-created SOPs are not overwritten when you re-analyze the material. An SOP is created from the analysis results at the time it was created
- You can copy materials other than AR Scan Data, but the [Review AI processing results] → [Re-run AI] flow in this article is for video materials
Frequently asked questions
Q. What happens if I re-run without copying first?
A. The analysis results for the same material are overwritten with the new results. You cannot go back to the previous results. If you want to compare, always copy first.
Q. If I delete a copied material, does it affect the original?
A. No, it does not. The original and copy are treated as separate materials. For deletion steps, see How to Delete Materials.
Q. What if I want to test 3 or more variations?
A. Create as many copies as you need, change conditions on each, and re-analyze. Once comparison is done, delete the copies you don't need.
Q. If I want to retry a video that failed to process, do I need to copy?
A. For retrying a failed process, you can re-run it as-is without copying (since there are no results to preserve). See How to Retry Failed AI Processing for steps.
