This article covers the basic usage of the Vuzix M400 smart glasses on its own. If you are using Vuzix M400 for the first time, please refer to this guide.

Also, the initial setup is somewhat complex. If you send us the device, we can handle it for 20,000 yen (excluding tax), so please consider that option.
Initial Setup for Importing (Estimated Time: 1 Hour)
●Register the Vuzix device with your PC
①Enable Developer Options
- Tap "Settings"
- Scroll down and tap "Device info"
- Scroll down and tap "Build number" 7 or more times. A message saying "Developer Options Enabled" will appear.
②Enable USB Debugging
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap "System"
- Scroll down and tap "Developer Options"
- Tap "USB Debugging" in the middle section to turn it ON (a message will appear, so please tap OK on that as well).
●Recommended: Install a Convenient Tool on Your PC
Since operating the Vuzix device directly is inefficient, we recommend installing Vuzix View on your PC, a tool that allows you to mirror the screen to your PC and operate it from there. With this tool, you can not only complete this setup but also install Dive's smart glasses app. Note that "Register the Vuzix device with your PC" (above) is still required even when operating from Vuzix View.
Henceforth, instructions assume you are accessing from Vuzix View (tap → click)
Note: How to mirror the Vuzix screen using Vuzix View
- Connect Vuzix and your PC with a USB cable.
- Click "VIEW".
- The screen will be displayed on your PC.
●Connect to the Internet
- Click "Settings"
- Click "Network and Internet"

From "Wi-Fi", connect to your desired network.
●Update OS to the Latest Version
At the time of purchase, the OS is not the latest version, so you must manually update it. Note that "Connect to the Internet" (above) is required.
- Click "Settings"
- Click "System"
- Click "OTA System Update" and tap "Update Now", and the update data will begin downloading. The data is about 1 GB, so it may take time depending on your network connection.

After the download is complete, click "Confirm and Install".
- The update will start. Please wait for the restart to complete.
- After restart, go to "Settings" → "System" and check the build number. If it is 3.0.0 or higher, the update was successful.
●Permit Data Transfer
- Click "Settings" icon
- Click "Connected devices" → go to "USB" and select "File transfer" (Vuzix View may close once in some cases)
- Click "USB" (Vuzix View may close once in some cases)
- Select "File transfer" (Vuzix View mirroring will automatically exit once)
- When you select Vuzix M400 recognized by your PC, "Internal Shared Storage" will be displayed.
How to Import Videos and Images
About Import Methods
Normally, importing videos and images from smart glasses requires the hassle of connecting a cable to your PC.
By using Dive's smart glasses app, this is unnecessary and you can seamlessly Upload to the Dive System (video materials uploaded from Dive can also be Downloaded). If you want to minimize hassle, please consider using Dive's smart glasses app.
Below, we explain how to import without using Dive.
How to Import Videos and Images Without Using Dive
This is achieved by connecting the smart glasses and PC and performing file operations.
- Connect Vuzix and your PC with a USB cable.
- In your PC's File Explorer, click "Vuzix M400" and then click "Internal Shared Storage"
※If "Vuzix M400" does not appear, please follow the "Register the Vuzix device with your PC" section at the top of the page. - Navigate to "DCIM" → "Camera".

You can now see the videos and images captured with Vuzix M400. Drag and drop your preferred materials to your PC.
