AI check is a feature where AI reviews a photo submitted by a worker again and displays results (no problems found / there may be a problem / cannot be determined from the photo) as an AI observation. It is used as a double-check, adding AI's second look to human verification. It does not stop saving answers; results are merely advisory.
Available to customers on Pro and Enterprise plans. Settings are configured from a PC browser. It can only be used on questions that require photo submission.
This feature is provided as a beta version. Specifications and judgment accuracy will be improved going forward. Please send any feedback you have—such as examples that worked well or cases where judgment was not as intended—to customer-success@episotech.com.
What is AI Check?
On questions that require photo submission, AI reviews photos taken and submitted by workers. The review method depends on whether a reference image has been registered.
- When a reference image is registered: AI compares the submitted photo against the reference (check against the reference)
- When no reference image is registered: AI reviews the photo based on the question text and step content
Results do not replace final judgments such as "Passed" or "Acceptable." Use them as a supplement based on verification by the worker themselves and administrators.
How to Configure
In the SOP editing screen on a PC browser, open the target question and configure it. AI check requires photo submission, so enable photo submission first before enabling AI check.
1. Require Photo Submission
- In the question editing screen, turn on [Require photo submission].
When enabled, workers are required to capture and submit field photos when viewing (multiple photos allowed). Specify what should be captured in the question description.
2. Enable AI Check
- Turn on [Use AI check] displayed below [Require photo submission].
3. Register a Reference Image (Optional)
- Turn on [Prepare a reference image] below the question text.
- Upload the reference image.
When you register a reference image, AI compares the submitted photo against the reference. If you don't register one, review is based on the question text and step content. The reference image is also displayed below the question text during viewing. On pass/fail judgment (inspection) questions, a "Normal" reference is also shown to workers.
How to Use on the Worker Side (During Viewing)
- Capture and submit a field photo for the question (answers cannot be saved without a photo).
- Once the photo upload is complete, [Check against the reference] (or [Check with AI] on questions without a reference image) becomes available.
- Pressing the button performs the review, and the results appear in a few seconds.
AI check cannot be performed while offline. It becomes available when you return online. Additionally, the button cannot be pressed until the photo upload is complete.
Understanding the Results
Results are displayed as one of the following three outcomes.
- Confirmed to match / No problems found: The photo matches the reference or no problems were found (verify the AI observation and make the final confirmation yourself)
- May differ / Needs recheck: The photo differs from the reference or there may be a problem. Please review again
- Cannot determine from photo: The photo could not be clearly verified, such as when the subject is not clearly visible. Please retake the photo so the subject is clear, then verify again
All results are AI observations. Workers and administrators must make the final pass/fail determination.
Viewing Results Later (Viewing Records)
AI check results are not only displayed to the worker on the spot, but also recorded in the viewing records (inspection checklist). Administrators can later verify what AI said for each question in each worker's completion.
- Table cells: A small badge appears next to the submitted photo (AI○ = no problems found / AI! = needs check / AI? = cannot determine). Hover over it to see AI's observation and reason.
- Details for one completion: Click a row to see the full AI observation and reason for each question.
- CSV export: Cells are marked with a note such as "(AI: needs check)" at the end.
AI observations appear only as notes and do not alter the worker's answer (OK/NG result). The record of the inspection itself remains the worker's answer as the primary source, as always.
