This feature lets you import existing files from Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive directly as materials in Dive, without downloading them to your computer. Once imported, you can use them exactly the same way as materials uploaded from your computer: for AI analysis, creating SOPs, and linking to related files.
Import and connection are available with Lite, Core, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Only users with Created user or higher permissions can make connections. Use a PC browser.
What You Can Do with Import
When you select a file from Teams, SharePoint, or OneDrive using Microsoft's file picker, it is registered as a material in Dive. You can import any file format that Dive supports for upload. This includes videos, images, PDFs, and other file types, with the same format, size, and length restrictions as uploading from your computer.
For videos, Dive's server receives the file directly from Microsoft 365. The file contents do not pass through your browser, so it does not consume your local bandwidth. Instead of downloading a 5GB video and re-uploading it (using 10GB of bandwidth), there's no need for that extra step.
What enters Dive is a copy at the time of import. The original remains in Microsoft 365, and Dive does not overwrite the original (except when you add instruction links, described later).
Connect to Microsoft 365
Each user must connect once per device they use. If the owner connects, it does not transfer to others. Everyone using import must connect themselves once.
- Open the user menu in the top right corner and click "External service integration"
- Under "Integration with files in Microsoft 365", click "Connect to Microsoft 365"
- Microsoft's sign-in screen opens. Sign in with your work or school account
- When the access confirmation screen appears, review the contents and consent
- Return to the original screen. If it shows "Connected", you are done
Right after connecting, "One step to go" may appear. This means you have not yet granted permission to browse SharePoint or OneDrive files. Click "Allow file browsing" on the screen to complete this. Then, you won't see a permission confirmation dialog during SOP editing.
Does Not Need to Match Your Dive Login Account
The Microsoft account you use to connect does not need to be the same as your Dive login account. Dive can only access files that you, the signed-in user, already have access to. Dive will not access any files you do not have permission for.
Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported. Use a work or school account (OneDrive for Business / SharePoint).
Scope of Permission Requested at Connection
We only ask for read-only permission at connection. Write permission to the original file is requested separately when you run "Add instruction links to the original file" (described later). If you do not use write-back, Dive will never have write permission.
Import Files
- Open "Materials" in the sidebar
- Select the tab for the type you want to import (Video / Image / PDF / Other)
- Click "Teams / SharePoint" on the material add card
- Microsoft's file picker opens. Select the files you want to import (you can select multiple at once)
- Click "Open". The same confirmation screen as uploading from your computer appears (AI processing options, sharing scope, etc.)
- Review the contents and run it. Import begins
You can only select file types matching the open tab. The video tab shows only video files. The "Other" tab does not filter by type.
Import Time
For videos, Dive's server receives the file, so import continues even if you close your browser. Progress appears in the materials list. For non-video files, they pass through your browser, so keep the Dive screen open until complete.
Imported materials count toward your daily upload limit. There is no separate limit for Microsoft 365 imports.
When the Original Is Updated After Import
Files imported from Microsoft 365 have a badge showing the source. When you select a material, Dive checks the original's state. If the original has been updated after import, the badge changes to a caution icon.
Click the caution icon to import the latest content as another material. Previously imported materials remain, so SOPs created with the old version do not break.

Original checking happens only when you select a material, not when you open the list. If you are not connected, the original has been deleted, or you lack permission, the badge does not change.
Add Instruction Links to the Original File
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PDF files imported from Microsoft 365 can be selected as the output destination for automatically adding instruction links to existing Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PDF files — the file in its original location. Without downloading and re-distributing, anyone opening the checklist on SharePoint can jump directly to the SOP.
- In the SOP edit screen, open the "Basic information" tab and open the "Related files" panel
- Click "Add Dive links" in the row for the target file
- Review the reconciliation results and uncheck any SOPs you do not want to add
- Click "Add to the Microsoft 365 file"
The first time you run this, a screen requests write permission to Microsoft 365. Once you consent, it does not appear again.
This feature is available with Pro and Enterprise plans. Supported formats are Excel (.xlsx / .xlsm), Word (.docx / .docm), PowerPoint (.pptx / .pptm), and PDF (.pdf). Videos and images are not supported.
Cannot Update When the Original File Is Being Edited
If the target file is open in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or SharePoint, you cannot update it. Close it, wait a moment, and try again. If it is checked out, you must check it in first.
Also, if the original has changed since Dive last saw it, we do not update. This prevents overwriting others' edits.
Disconnect
Open the user menu in the top right → "External service integration" and click "Disconnect". Connection information on the device is cleared and the status returns to not connected. Imported materials remain.
If you use a shared computer, disconnect when done. Connection information is also discarded when you log out of Dive.
Disable Integration for the Entire Team
In team settings, the "Integration" tab has a setting for "Use integration with files in Microsoft 365 for this team". Unchecking it prevents any connection or import on that team. The default is "Use".
Only Enterprise plan owners can change this setting. Other plans stay at the default "Use".
Troubleshooting
Pressing "Teams / SharePoint" Shows a Connection Prompt
The device has not connected yet. Click "Go to integration settings" on the screen to connect. If you have unsaved edits, save first before moving.
Attempting to Connect Shows "You Could Not Approve This Yourself"
Your Microsoft 365 is configured to require admin approval for app use. Ask your IT department to approve Dive (Publisher: EPISOTECH LTD.). We can provide approval instructions. Please contact us.
Shows "Blocked by Microsoft 365 Policy"
Microsoft 365 policies, such as conditional access, are blocking the connection. Check with your IT department.
Shows "Integration Not Allowed in Team Settings"
Integration is disabled in team settings, on the "Integration" tab. Enterprise plan owners can change it. If this appears on other plans, the setting cannot be changed, so please contact us.
Shows "Not Available on Your Current Plan"
Integration is not available on the Free plan. It is available on Lite and higher plans.
