Continuous play is a way to view an SOP. It plays from Step 1 to the last step in one continuous run, like a video. A seek bar for the Entire procedure appears above the video, so you can move to any position you like. Use it to show an SOP from start to finish during training, or to check an SOP straight through in Dive without exporting it to MP4.
Available on all plans.
What is continuous play?
In normal playback, each step plays its video and narration. You move to the next step by hand, or turn off In-step Repeat and the SOP advances on its own (See: Auto-advance playback and automatic step transitions). In continuous play, the video runs across steps as if it were one video. A seek bar for the Entire procedure, along with the overall elapsed time and length, appears above the video. Steps without video (only images, PDFs, or text) are also included in the seek bar.
The video, narration, images, and PDF of the next step are loaded in advance, so there is less waiting at the transitions between steps. The SOP's data and settings do not change.
How to use
- Open the SOP and press the [Continuous play] button (icon) below the Text pane. Playback starts from the beginning of Step 1.
- Use the seek bar above the video to move to any position you like. While you drag the handle, the step number, title, and text switch to those of the step at that position. Playback starts from where you let go.
- To stop, press [Continuous play] again. In-step Repeat and Reference mode return to the settings they had before you started continuous play.
Your device remembers whether you used continuous play. The next time you open the SOP, it also starts in continuous play, and a notice saying “Opened in continuous play” appears at the top of the screen.
How continuous play works
- When the video and narration finish, the SOP moves on to the next step.
- Questions are skipped (same as Reference mode). You can still open and look at them from [Questions].
- SOPs with branches play in step order, because the branch to follow cannot be decided without answers.
- If the narration is longer than the video, the video does not repeat. It stops on its last frame and waits for the narration to finish.
- The paused state carries over across steps. If you move to another step while paused, playback continues from there.
- When the last step finishes, an end screen appears. If you play again, continuous play starts over from Step 1.
- The In-step Repeat and Reference mode switches are not shown.
How records are handled
If you view an SOP with questions in continuous play, the run is recorded as one where questions were skipped. It is not counted in inspection totals or in completion of Training courses, and it appears as “Reference (no questions)” in Work records (See: Pass/fail questions and work records). If you want the run to count as a work record, press [Continuous play] to turn continuous play off, and then review the SOP again.
SOPs without questions are recorded as usual, even when viewed in continuous play.
Open share URLs and QR Codes in continuous play
- On the SOP, open [...] then [Share].
- Open [Opening options] and turn on the checkbox for [Open in continuous play].
- Choose Copy URL or Print QR codes.
The same setting can also be used for External Sharing URLs (URLs that do not require login). [Open in continuous play] starts OFF each time you open the Share screen, and it is not remembered on the device.
URLs and QR Codes created with [Open in continuous play] left OFF open in normal playback, even if the viewer used continuous play before. For inspections, SOP URLs and QR Codes created on the Share screen do not skip questions.
The following URLs and QR Codes open with the setting remembered on the viewer's device. On a device where continuous play was used before, they start in continuous play and questions are skipped (a notice appears at the top of the screen when they open).
- URLs and QR Codes created on the Share screen before October 22, 2026
- URLs copied again from the list of issued External Sharing URLs
- QR Codes printed in bulk, and QR Codes included in SOP exports (PDF, Excel, etc.)
- Opened from inside the app or from Training courses
When continuous play does not apply
- On smart glasses operated by voice or a directional pad (RealWear, Vuzix, etc.), SOPs open in normal playback.
- Recording for MP4 export and AR editing do not use continuous play.
Frequently asked questions
Continuous play starts even though [Open in continuous play] is not turned ON
On a device where you used continuous play before, it starts with the remembered setting. If you press [Continuous play] to stop it, it starts in normal playback from the next time. URLs and QR Codes created on the Share screen with [Open in continuous play] left OFF open in normal playback, regardless of the device setting.
You may have to wait briefly at the transitions between steps
When the connection is slow, or when you view an SOP through a Team set not to save to the device, or through an External Sharing URL, preloading does not work and you may have to wait for loading at the transitions. On older iPhones (devices that can only use the standard browser playback), the video may also reload at the transitions.
