We have completed a major overhaul of Skill Map. Moving beyond the previous limitations where you could only "define and create the map," with training plans managed separately, we have now built "creation support to make setup easier" and "training plans that keep development moving," working together as one system. This article highlights the key points of this update.
① 31 Industry Templates Now Standard
Previously, you had to build Category, Subcategory, Skill name, and Evaluation Criteria from scratch, creating a heavy workload at startup. With this update, we have added 31 industry templates as standard, so you can choose one and have a complete foundation ready to go.
●Templates Included (31 total)
- Manufacturing 21 types: Sheet metal / Machining / Mold / Press / Welding / Surface treatment / Casting / Steel structure fabrication / Injection molding / Rubber and plastic / Chemical / Automotive parts assembly / Industrial machinery assembly / Precision equipment assembly / Control panel assembly / SMT assembly / Wire harness / Food manufacturing / Printing / Textiles / Woodworking
- Common Manufacturing 4 types: 5S and Safety / QC and Quality Management / TPM and Maintenance / Improvement activities
- Other Industries 6 types: Care work / Construction / Food / Logistics / Office / Retail
When you select a template to implement, Category, Subcategory, Skill name, Evaluation Criteria for each level, and recommended target level are all imported at once. After import, you can edit the names and Evaluation Criteria to match your company's terminology.
② Bulk Import from Excel
You can now import skill management tables that were previously managed in Excel directly into Dive. Transition to Dive without discarding your existing assets.
●Import Process
- Upload an Excel file (refer to the "Export to Excel" format for reference)
- On the Preview screen, confirm differences for "Add new," "Update," and "No changes"
- Once confirmed, the changes are reflected in Skill Map
You can confirm the imported content in Preview before it is reflected, reducing the risk of accidentally overwriting existing data and allowing you to proceed with the migration with confidence.
③ Training Plan Features (Level-by-Level Schedule + Instructor Assignment)
Previously, Skill Map was primarily focused on "visualizing current competency," and "when, who teaches whom" training plans tended to be managed separately. With this redesign, you can now create training plans within Skill Map itself.
●Before and After Comparison
- Before: Skill items and level definitions were in Dive, training plans were in Excel or handled verbally, and OJT implementation records were managed by individuals.
Current: For each skill, assign the planning period and instructor for each level (Lv1 / Lv2 / Lv3 / Lv4) within Dive, and progress Status is automatically calculated.
●What You Can Do
- Level-based Planning Period Setup: For one skill, you can set independent Start date and End date for each level, such as "Reach Lv2 in 3 months → Lv3 in 6 months → Lv4 in 1 year." Staged development steps map directly into your plan.
- Instructor Assignment: Assign an instructor to each level—"this senior teaches this skill." Instructors can view their dedicated instructor dashboard to see "whom I teach, what I teach, and by when" in a single list.
- Status Automatically Calculated: Status (Planned / In progress / Completed / Achieved) is automatically calculated based on the set period and evaluation history. Instructors don't need to manually input progress updates.
- Change History Retained: All changes to planning periods and instructors are recorded as history and can be used as supporting data for HR evaluation and audits.
This transforms Skill Map from a "current evaluation table" into "a development platform that plans and executes who develops whom to what level by when."
④ New Personal Skill Page
To make it easier for individuals and their supervisors to understand skills, we have added a new Personal page.
- Self-evaluation, target level, and evaluation history visible at a glance on one screen
- Integration of level setting modal and Cycle format (evaluation → target → next evaluation)
- Timeline display shows skill progression at a glance
- Dedicated mobile view for viewing and editing from smartphones and tablets
⑤ Other Improvements
- Unified Design and Terminology: Consistent design and terminology across Skill definition / Skill Map / Personal Page / Instructor Page eliminates confusion when navigating between screens
- English UI Support: Skill screens now support English, allowing administrators and field staff at overseas locations to use the same platform
- Enhanced Search: Greatly expanded Filter capabilities by Skill name and SOP name
- Excel Export Support: Export skill definition tables and personal skill tables in Excel format
- Revision Tracking: Automatically follows revision changes for SOPs linked to skills, preventing links from becoming outdated
- Avatar Support and Unified Name Display: Improved readability of User display
To Our Existing Users
This update preserves all your existing Skill definitions and evaluation data. The Skill Maps you have created so far will continue to work, so please rest assured.
New features you may want to use (adding industry templates, setting up training plans, assigning instructors, etc.) can be tried step by step, starting with the skills and levels you need.
Rather than creating a Skill Map and calling it done, we're building a system where development keeps moving on the job floor. We hope this update becomes a partner in your human resource development.
Thank you for continuing to use Dive ◎
