When you create an SOP from material after AI processing, the "Step conversion settings" screen appears. At this timing, you specify how to handle narration audio, subtitles, questions, and related files all at once. You can press "Confirm with this content" with the default settings and the SOP will still be created—you can change any of these settings anytime afterward.
When this screen appears
It displays during these operations:
- When you open an SOP from a link in the AI processing completion email
- When you create a new SOP from material
- When you add a video or file to a draft SOP using "Add step"
The items shown vary depending on the material type. For non-video material, "Mute video audio" and "Subtitle types to adopt" do not appear.
Narration target
Choose which text should be read aloud when the step plays. The default is "Text".
| Choices | What gets narrated |
|---|---|
| None | No narration audio is created. Use this for operations where text is read by users or in environments where audio is not practical |
| Text | The body text of each step is narrated. This is the recommended setting |
| Subtitle | The subtitle text is narrated. To keep it synced with the video, the narration speed automatically adjusts so each subtitle fits within its display time |
Narration audio is generated by AI reading text aloud—it is not a recording. To change the narration content, edit the source text or subtitle. For details, see Subtitle and text narration feature.
Mute video audio
Choose whether to remove the audio in the original video. The default is ON.
Turn it OFF if you want to keep the original explanation audio from filming. When "Subtitle" is selected for "Narration target", this setting automatically turns ON and cannot be changed, because the narration and original audio would overlap.
Subtitle types to adopt
Video AI processing generates two different subtitle types separately. Choose which one to use as the SOP's subtitle.
| Choices | Content | Default |
|---|---|---|
| AI-generated | Description of actions detected from the video. The subtitle shows what is happening in each scene | ON |
| Speech transcription | Exact text of what the person filming or working said | OFF |
If you select both, the speech and action subtitles are combined on a timeline and appear as one subtitle track. If you deselect both, no subtitles appear. If the material has no data for one type, it shows "(No data)" and cannot be selected.
Here is guidance on which to choose: For videos of work tasks, "AI-generated" is usually fine as-is. For videos where the speaker's words are the main content—such as lectures or explanations—select "Speech transcription" to preserve what was said in the subtitles. Subtitle text is searchable, so you can find relevant sections by keyword later.
After the SOP is created, you can edit subtitles using the subtitle editor.
Questions
Choose whether to include the verification questions that AI generated from the video in the step. The default is ON. Questions are available on Core, Pro, and Enterprise plans. They cannot be selected if your plan does not support them or if the material has no question data.
Check "Use as pass/fail judgment" to turn questions into pass/fail checks instead of right/wrong tests. With this option, users can proceed even if they select a non-passing answer, and the result is recorded as "abnormal"—ideal for inspection and checklist workflows. If you leave it unchecked, users cannot proceed to the next step unless they select the correct answer.
For details, see Step-level questions setting and Pass/fail judgment questions and viewing records (inspection and checklist operations).
Related files
This section appears only when you create an SOP from a file or when the video was analyzed using a reference work SOP.
Check "Register as a related file of the procedure" to add the original file to the SOP's related files, making it accessible from the SOP. The default is OFF. Registered files are visible to view-only users. If you do not want to display them, you can switch them to "Hide from viewers" in the related files list after registration. Duplicate files are not added.
Check "Register the corresponding page as an attachment on each step" to attach a PDF page from the source material to each step—the page that corresponds to that step. The default is OFF. This works only with videos analyzed using "Split according to the document's steps". If the source material has fewer pages than steps, the same page will be attached to multiple steps.
Settings are remembered
Your choices are saved and become the default values the next time you open "Step conversion settings". If you want different settings for different material, specify them on this screen each time.
Change settings later
You can change any settings specified here as long as the SOP is in Draft status.
- Narration target and mute video audio … Change narration and mute video audio settings
- Subtitle content … Edit subtitles
- Questions … Step-level questions setting, Unlink all questions (remove only questions from steps in bulk)
"Subtitle types to adopt" is a choice made when creating the SOP. After creation, you can edit subtitle text in the video editor, but to switch to the other subtitle type entirely, create the SOP again from the same material.
